a ... coffee?
Local cafe in Old Gretna. Average food. Friendly service. Loud. Busy. Looks like mostly locals. 1st time visit.
Nice cozy place. Mostly locals. Weekends can be busy. Coffee is good. Food is good. Reasonably priced.
LOVE this place! The food was fantastic! The service was outstanding! Great place for a family, friends and work. I brought my daughter after leaving the courthouse. Great for all ages!! We got the Westbank omelette and Common breakfast.
I have been blessed by having visited a couple of New Orleans most well known restaurants over the past two weeks. Eating some of the best Seafood and Creole or Cajun dishes. But my Fried Oyster Platter today at Common Grounds was by far the best tasting oysters I have eaten this year. While not large in size, they were meaty (dense) and full of the flavor only Louisiana Oysters have. Fried in a light batter with a load of French Fries. A fresh crisp salad was served as well.Acme Oyster and Dragos have some of the best Raw and Char Broiled oysters around, but for Fried Oyster, Common Grounds is Uncommonly Good!
We had a family breakfast there this morning. The food was great, but some of our meals were not exactly correct.
This place offers a nice selection of breakfast items! The wait staff is very friendly!😊 you won't be disappointed! There were three of us having breakfast today.... The food came out very quickly and was absolutely delicious! So.....I give this place six stars! Gotta try it, if you haven't been! Absolutely a wonderful experience!!!
This was one of my daddy's favorite places to gather the family to have breakfast. He truly enjoyed those times together in the back room. We took up the whole room sometimes, lol.We gathered 20 of us this past weekend to have breakfast the morning after my dad's Memorial. It was fitting. Jackie was her usual AMAZING self, as was the rest of the crew who took care of us. They took 20 orders and 20 separate drink orders & didn't miss a thing! Every order was exactly as ordered. So, the family of Dub Beasley would like to thank the staff at Common Grounds for years of memories and excellent service!! And thanks for not throwing us out when we'd show up 20+ deep without reservations. Which we did more than once. Y'all rock!!
Just ok, friendly service and good prices, the food was good but pretty standard menu
Industrial feel to room. I love it when buildings are repurposed instead of torn down and some of the architectural features remain.
Always good food and service, when we go out of town this is our first stop when we get back home.
Great food, Friendly staff!!
The restaurant is quaint. The food was good. However the noise level was so high we could not here each other over the din. The noise was caused by the busboy who constantly banged dishes and flatware around. Unfortunately this was the main cause of my less than Sterling review.
Common Ground really is a cozy family-friendly restaurant in the heart of "Old Historical Gretna". You'll be served by friendly staff, as you eat a good meal here. If you need your shoes shined, someone is on the premises to accommodate you. You can tour the farmers market, walk on the Gretna levee, or just chill out at a local hot spot. You can do this, with the comfort of knowing a Gretna Police is always patrolling in the vicinity. I love this place.
Best hamburger in town. Quant, good service and just a sweet place to go!
The food was excellent , the restaurant was awesome , clean . The flavor was out of this world, the cook did a great job. The employees was beautiful and special. They know what was best to eat . We will be back soon , thank y'all for being there for us.
Due to my party's schedule, we came here an hour before they closed, despite that they accommodated us with a warm welcome. Most places aren't capable of that. Their prices are amazing for what you get, and the quality of the food was divine. Probably the best ribeye steak I've had in a long time. The service was friendly and professional, if I ever end up in the area I'm visiting again.
First time visiting this place and I was wowed! The service was great and the food delicious! I had the eggs, bacon, bread, grits and hash browns (didn't care for them, too mushy but the other food was so freaking good that I did not care). My fiance had an omelet, grits and bread, he was very Happy! We ordered a side of pancakes as if we did not have enough food already....those things were huge!!! And the coffee....the best coffee! All the food was very homemade and the portions huge. Definitely going back and next time bringing the whole family!
After sitting for literally 20 minutes without even so much as a "hello". I ordered from the counter and returned to my table.About 20 minutes later, my sandwich arrives. and here we are an hour and five minutes later and nothing. No "how is everything?". No "would you like a drink refill?". Not even "Here is your bill."Food was good though. Would it be inaccurate for me to assume that due the lack of service this meal was comped? Because I still haven't been checked on. Still; 40 minutes now after the initial "plopping of the plate".
I really liked this place from the moment we walked threw the door very cool atmosphere great service very friendly customers I was recommended the crab cake Benedict by two separate people within minutes of entering the establishment so at that point I knew that's what I had to try it was very tasty and the omelette was very good also the Bloody Mary was right on time as well the feel of the old school area is very cool to walk by to your car as well as there is a farmers market / French Market type seen going on out there all local very cool
Me and My Boyfriend Went Yesterday. The Food is Always Good and Fresh.I had Grilled Chicken Breast with Grilled Vegetables. He had Huey Rueben with Sweet Potato fries. Appetizer Mushroom St.Trey.Glass of Pinot Grigio & Bud Light. Our Waitress Rachael As Always was Awesome. It is a Must Try.We have been before and Never Dissatisfied. We Will go back.Atmosphere Very Pleasant.
Consistently good food and service. Friendly atmosphere.
A nice cozy local place to have breakfast, lunch or whenever, or just have coffee . Very good food , I love the breakfast. You always run into someone you know there and everybody has a smile on their face. Very friendly staff and a very clean Place. Inexpensive and delicious
the best spot on the westbank. if you never tried it u need to
Great food and great service. I wasn't expecting the amount of food for the price. I had a turkey sandwich and sweet potato fries, they were delicious.
Awesome as usual
Great place to see your old friends from Gretna. Varied affordable food, lunch specials, good variety of breakfasts.
Seriously the cutest little coffee shop and the prices are fantastic the staff is friendly and the food is delicious
Excellent Food Excellent Service .
This place is a bustling local spot in the heart of Gretna. On a Saturday there is a small farmers market within walking distance. My spouse and I grab coffee and a bite at Common Grounds and puruse the fresh veggies and prepared foods at the market. Locals have gone here for years and it is always busy
I ordered spinach artichoke dip. It was delicious, but they could've served it in something a little bigger.
Pot roast was delicious. Service was super
Food was fresh and there was plenty of seating outside.
This is one of those places the locals go. My husband and I have eaten here for breakfast around a half dozen times. Service is always quick and attentive. The food is always good. On Saturday morning there is a farmer's market right outside the door, and I love being able to walk out and stroll through the market. There is outdoor seating, and dogs are welcome on the patio :)
Solid restaurant in downtown Gretna. Worth the trip from both sides of the river
The staff was really nice. I got crab cakes eggs Benedict. It was exceptional.
we actually really love this place and we love living in Gretna. it could be a little cleaner. but over all it is a cool place to Brunch
Everything that I have tried has been absolutely delicious.
I have given them 4 stars today because our experience was less than good. Food was cold (bacon and hash browns.). This is not a normal occurrence here, usually it is 5 stars. Not sure what happened today but we will be back.
The breakfast is always good.the service so friendly
They were so sweet, food was hot and fast 😍
Love this cafe. People are very nice. Service is great. And food is good.
Named appropriately in the heart of Old Gretna's Courthouse District where legal meetings are common at, and on, "Common Ground"... Tasty quick bites, or just coffee if you like, maybe a cold brew or get your beverage spiked... Enjoy Daily plate specials - delicious and priced right - served with a smile - mornings, noon or at night.Full menu & bar - indoor & outdoor patio dining - semi enclosed meeting / dining area
Great neighborhood coffee or food spot
AMAZING BACON !!!!! The pancakes are huge too. Staff was friendly and helpful. Local hub for people not a chain/branch diner/restaurant. Would come back.for breakfast again !!
Great breakfasts, reasonable prices and very friendly and courteous staff
Not a clean restaurant...We sat in the back and there are tables used for the staff with old, used dishes on it..Not a wonderful sight but I'm sure the food is good..I'll write another review, after we're finished our eating experience
My new favorite place for breakfast
Me and my woman went to Common Grounds for a couple of drinks and Appetizers, (Mushroom St. Trey, home made Onion Rings and Artichoke Amelia). This is not our first time dining at Common Grounds, the Appetizers and main entrees are always great.
Great place for breakfast. Eggs, grits, sausage, hash brown, the works. Great food and very fast. Really impressed that 2 can pig out for about $20. Very nice staff.
This place was awesome from the area, to the service and the food. This was our first time here, it was recommended to me from a coworker. I must say I'm soooooooo glad I came. We had the seafood and chicken/sausage gumbo, Mushroom St.Trey(absolutely delish), Roasted turkey sandwich and the shrimp and fish platter. Our waitress was Lisa. One of the best waitresses ever!!! She recommended our app and my sandwich. She knows her stuff. We will definitely be returning often
